Designed to increase sagittal plane motion around the ankle and reduce the impact at heel strike.
An extension of the orthotic shell beyond the 1st metatarsal, which is used to limit motion about the 1st MTP joint, reducing pain.
The shell extends past the 4th and 5th metatarsal heads and aligns with the phalanges.
This causes the patient to externally rotate their leg and abduct the foot, in order to move forward.
A wider width at the distal end of the orthotic combined with the medial flange increases the surface contact area under the arch. This is ideal for the patient with excessive midfoot pronation.
